Our meetings, events and activities

Members of the Wildlife Trust receive a Malvern Group Newsletter with their regular magazine keeping them up-to-date with what’s on. Our Indoor Meetings are held at 7.30pm at the Lyttelton Rooms, 6, Church St, Malvern WR14 2AY. Entrance fee: adults £2.50, children no charge, including refreshments. The fee is payable on the night at the door. Everyone is very welcome.  This season’s programme is lower down the page.

Our Outdoor Meetings  comprise trips, wildlife walks and ambles and are held on a regular basis throughout the year. Trips and walks are usually arranged well in advance. They are publicised in the newsletter and at the monthly indoor meetings.
The current programme of trips and walks for 2024 is now available.

Additional one day trip.. Saturday June 29th.A visit to Flat Holm island in the Bristol Channel, sailing from Cardiff at 10 am and allowing 2 – 3 hours on the island, depending on the tide. Cost £60 (includes £45 boat fare and landing charge.) Departs Splash car park 7 am. Depending on time available we may visit Newport Wetlands on the way home.

Spaces available
In April Lyndon reported that a few spaces are available on some of the day trips running this year, namely Warwick, Leicester and Lower Moor Farm. The Flatholm trip is full with a reserve list.

Whale Watching in the Bay of Biscay 18-20 August. This trip will now run August 14th to 16th travelling with ORCA and Brittany ferries. Sailing Plymouth – Santander : 2 nights on board in cabins: in the company of ORCA experts approx. cost £350 including a donation to ORCA and minibus transport from Worcester and Malvern.

There will be two trips to Ardnamurchan:
     One 27 September – 5 October
     Two 4 – 13 October

At the end of the first trip, Lyndon will drive the group to Dunbar where they will meet the second group. The groups will change minibuses and Lyndon will drive the second group to Ardnamurchan and the first group will return home in the second minbus.

Local walks

Wednesday 8th May
– 10.00 am. Meet in British Camp carpark.
Gerry Davis will lead a walk from British Camp to the Broad Down area of the Malvern Hills.

Thursday 23rd May Time and parking to be arranged.
Tomos Holloway will lead a walk to Hardwick Green Meadows, a WWT Reserve.

Tuesday 11th June 10.00 am. Hilton Hill Orchard car park. WR11 4UA.
Gary Farmer from Landscape Vale Heritage Trust will lead a walk to Hipton Meadows to see orchids.

Tuesday 2nd July 10.00 am, Old Hills South car park
Mel Mason will lead a butterfly walk on the Old Hills.

Friday 12th July 10.00 am Meet in Smite car park.
Steve Bloomfield will lead a walk around Smite Farm, WWT headquarters.

Places are limited, so please contact Tim at putting ‘mlgamble’ in the subject line. He is able to differentiate between somebody saying they will attend the next amble and booking a walk. When you book a walk, you need to give Tim:- your name, – your contact phone number, – which walk you are booking, – how many people you are booking for, – your email address. Tim will reply to confirm the booking. This may take a couple of weeks if he is away on holiday.

Ambles are arranged at short notice and publicised via the Malvern Local Group e-mailing list.
